My heart goes out to Japan and what they and neighboring countries are dealing with right now.
I woke up at three a.m. with a text message from a friend on Friday morning telling me to turn on the news. Sadly enought, I saw that an 8.9 earthquake had taken place and devastation was soon to occur.
I actually went to Japan in 2007 and was able to stay there for ten days with a host family, so the first thing I thought about was them when I heard about the tragedy.
It is actually weird because while I was there in July of 2007, a 6.6 Earthquake took place and also a chemical spill, so I dealt with my fair share of distasters while I was oversea's.
At this point as the death toll is still rising, what we can do as a nation is pray for all those directly or indirectly affected by the disaster. We can also provide a helping hand, whether with materials, monetary gifts, or provide physical help.
God bless!

I cannot even begin to imagine what it would be like to experience something like that. I would have been scared out of my mind if I were you when you were over there and the earthquake happened. Situations like this truly make you realize that you need to count your blessings.
ReplyDeleteI understand that you were worried about the host family. Because this is something bigger than America and we are so blessed to not have gone through a catastrophie like Japan did. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan and others that were in the path of this terrible tsunami and earthquake.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and hope that your host family is making it through. While the events taking place are uncontrolable, it is comforting and beautiful to see the support taking place for those suffering
ReplyDeleteI have never been Japan, but many of my friends are in Japan for studying. They tell me Japan is a quiet country. But the earthquake is very common. This disaster has broken this quiet country. This earthquake is too serious, death toll is still going up, and it is not including the missing people. Every disaster must kill many people. I am sorry about that. Although the technology can predict that and we have prepared arrangement, we cannot avoid them successfully.
